Ms. Zapata, MSc. in Biology with the specialisation of Organisms and Environment at the University of Malaga (Spain), has been working for more than 16 years (since February 2006) as Project Manager. She has extensive experience in proposals writing, negotiation and coordination of R&D&I and International Cooperation projects within different European Programmes (HORIZON, H2020, FP7, FP6, IEE, Eco-Innovation, etc.), being these projects mainly related to water management, treatment and reuse, waste management, circular economy, resource sustainability, sustainable sanitation and other environmental issues. Thus, she has worked on many proposals and more than 17 funded projects, being the Coordinator and/or the Administrative Coordinator of 10 projects in the framework of a variety of EU programmes. Some examples are the H2020 project Water2REturn, devoted to recover and recycle nutrients, turning wastewater into added-value products for a circular economy in agriculture, of which she is the current General Coordinator and the H2020 project PAVITR, aiming to explore the potential and validation of sustainable natural and advanced technologies for water and wastewater treatment, monitoring and safe water reuse in India, the FP7 project NaWaTech, dealing with natural water systems and treatment technologies to cope with water shortages in urbanised areas in India, and the FP7 project ISSOWAMA, a network devoted to the integrated sustainable solid waste management in Asia, of which she is / has been the Administrative Coordinator, among others.
