Where agriculture & environment meet for an open dialogue

From our partners’ viewpoint

Why does the FFA remain important to ELO?

Why is FFA important to ELO?

The ELO represents Europe’s landowners, and their most important priority is to hand over their rural businesses to the next generation and those coming after. If their business is not sustainable in all senses of the word, they betray the livelihoods of their children, and the promise to their parents. The Forum for the Future of Agriculture remains the most important space in Brussels where we can discuss our aspirations for our generation and the next, but also to have a practical discussion on how to change land management.

Why have you joined FFA as a partner?

Over the past 13 years FFA has grown to be the place for debate on the promotion of a sustainable food and agricultural system globally. In this period of time FFA has moved from being a convener to an influencer role. With the right and unique balance in public and private strategic partners and with the challenge of reaching the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and 2050 climate neutral goals, Rabobank is pleased to join FFA and working together in reaching our shared goals.

Why have you joined FFA?

The FFA has become a trusted and forward-looking space for dialogue on agriculture and the environment. For WWF, it is high time that environmental challenges take centre stage and nature is rightfully treated as the very basis on which food production relies. By joining this Forum, WWF would like to contribute to moving the debate beyond agriculture, and instead address food systems in their full complexity, from sustainable farming and fisheries to healthier diets, from food waste to climate change mitigation. By transforming our food system, we can make sure there’s enough nutritious food for every person – now and in the future.

The Nature Conservancy is dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. With 40% of the world’s lands and 70% of fresh water withdrawals devoted to agriculture, we recognize that shaping the future of agriculture is critical to solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges. FFA offers a convening forum where we can engage with the sector to co-develop transformative solutions to a number of issues including natural climate solutions, ag tech innovation, soil health, deforestation and trade, among others. We believe these discussions will contribute to a world where both people and nature thrive.

As the premier, non-partisan global affairs organization in America’s heartland, we believe an informed, engaged public with access to fact-based and balanced views on global issues helps to ensure effective US engagement and supports a more sustainable, safe, nutritious, and equitable global food system. We partnered with the Forum for the Future of Agriculture to expand this conversation and better link US and European efforts, ensuring broad participation and perspectives. We believe that global food security cannot be achieved without diverse collaboration, and this partnership is an important step towards that goal.
